The power of networking meets the brilliance of great design in the new 4000 series chartplotters from Garmin. These big, bright multifunction displays (MFDs) combine video-quality resolution and luminous colour with the latest in sensor and data options - to serve as your all-in-one "nerve centers" for the Garmin Marine Network. Both MFDs offer built-in cartography, worldwide satellite imagery, and a new simplified user interface. The GPSMAP 4212 features a 12.1" XGA "big screen" display and alphanumeric keypad. The slightly smaller GPSMAP 4208 is designed with an 8.4" diagonal VGA screen and does not have the alphanumeric keypad for data entry. The 4208 and 4212 MFDs are preloaded with highly-detailed BlueChart g2 marine cartography of the coastal United States - including Alaska, Hawaii and the Bahamas. This data provides detailed coastlines, shaded depth contours, navaids, port plans, wrecks, restricted areas and tide and current information. Plug in optional BlueChart g2 Vision cards to add true 3D-view detailed mapping capabilities (both above and below the waterline), plus helpful auto guidance, high-resolution photomapping detail, and "real picture" aerial photos of ports, harbors, marinas, waterways, navigation landmarks and other points of interest.

The GDL 30 is a marine weather satellite receiver that is also compatible with the new Garmin high-speed Marine Network. The GDL 30 is designed to receive continuous data transmissions from the XM satellite system. When used in conjunction with a GPSMAP 3205, 3206, and 3210 marine chartplotter (marine network products), the GDL 30 delivers a variety of real-time graphical NEXRAD weather data. The GDL 30A model additionally provides over 120 channels of XM Satellite Radio. A subscription fee for the above services will be required. See Chart below for cost's and details on XM services. Subscription will be serviced by XM Satellite Radio; instructions to be included with hardware purchase. The listing below highlights some of the NEXRAD weather data available for display on a GPSMAP 3006C or GPSMAP 3010C chartplotter
- Current conditions
- City forecasts
- Surface analysis (Highs, Lows and fronts)
- NEXRAD Radar with precipitation type (animated, high resolution)
- Lightning
- Storm cell size, speed and direction
- Surface air pressure
- Hurricane track
- Visibility forecast
- Wind speed and direction
- Buoy data
- Sea surface temperature
- Wave period, height and direction.
GSD 22 Remote Sounder
The GSD22 is a dual frequency, 1 kW/500W rms (dependent on transducer), direct sampling, Garmin Marine Network enabled, black box sounder. The unit will also have serial connectivity for Garmin non-network chartplotters. The exciting additions are a new direct sampling analog to digital sonar receiver that will provide exceptional target separation because of dynamic filter adjustments, better rejection of other fishfinder cross talk, an increased transmit ping rate, and a new transmitter capable of 1kW. The unit will also utilize the new 'Transducer ID' feature from Airmar on 1kW or greater transducers. The data available from Transducer ID will allow the receiver to automatically adjust the sounder performance to the varied characteristics of the different models of phased array 1 kW transducers.
The advantages of the GSD 22 over current Garmin products are: Network compatibility, 1 kW for deeper water(5000ft)/bigger boat operation, Better rejection of interference from other fishfinders, Improved cavitation noise rejection, Improved high speed performance, Excellent target separation because signal filtering can be tailored to depth and conditions, Power - 1kW / 500W (RMS), Frequency - 50/200 kHz, Voltage - 10-35 V, Max Rep Rate - 35 ms, LED - Monitor system status.
